In the heart of the Gotland countryside, in Stånga in southeastern Gotland, lies Gumbalde Resort. Here, history, nature, golf, culinary experiences, and relaxation come together in a unique setting dating back to the 17th century.
For centuries, Gumbalde has been a natural gathering place for people in the area. The oldest parts of the farm are believed to date back to 1622, and even today, the authentic Gotlandic farm setting shapes the entire experience. At the same time, we continue to develop the resort with an eye toward both history and the future.
The journey toward today’s Gumbalde Resort began when Anita and Lars Lagergren brought their vision of a world-class golf course to life. Inspired by golf courses in Europe and the United States, the first nine holes were inaugurated on June 17, 1989. Since then, the facility has grown into a full-service resort where people come together for recreation, fellowship, and new experiences.
Today, we offer hotels, restaurants, golf, tennis, a pool, conferences, weddings, and events in a setting where the tranquility of Gotland is always present.
Live with nature right outside your door
Our hotel features 29 thoughtfully decorated rooms in warm, harmonious tones. Many of the rooms have their own patio where you can step right out into Gotland’s natural surroundings. We know that a good night’s sleep is an important part of the experience, which is why we’ve chosen high-quality beds from Aya of Sweden to provide our guests with the best possible comfort.
Food, Gatherings, and Community
Our restaurant is the natural heart of the resort. In this beautiful limestone building, we serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee and snacks, and drinks, all while offering views of the open countryside and Stånga Church.
This is where golfers gather after their round, hotel guests after the day’s activities, and friends and families come together to enjoy good food and Gotland hospitality. Upstairs, you’ll find banquet and conference rooms, as well as our popular lounge with its impressive fireplace, which has become one of Gumbalde’s hallmarks.

Golf is an important part of Gumbalde’s identity. Our course, designed by Pierre Fulke, is designed to be both challenging and player-friendly. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced golfer, we want to offer a golfing experience that inspires and brings joy.
Next to the golf course, you'll also find our tennis court and a heated outdoor pool, making it easy to combine activity with relaxation during your stay.

Take Route 143 toward Roma from Visby.
About 5 km past the town of Roma, turn right toward HEMSE/STÅNGA/LYE.
At the three-way intersection in Lye, turn right toward STÅNGA/HEMSE.
Follow the signs to Gumbalde when you reach Stånga.
